Multi-scale Integrative Chemistry

The MiChem Cluster of Excellence goes beyond a dispersed molecular approach and propels research into a new era of chemical design: Multiscale Integrated Chemistry.

The MiChem community brings together 13 research laboratories in physical, molecular and theoretical chemistry: it integrates the skills of each in a unique approach by working on diatomic molecules and nano-objects with the same methods.

The objective of Labex is to observe, understand and predict the reactivity of objects from the sub-nanometer level to the macroscopic scale, then to synthesize new molecular and supramolecular structures with controlled properties, by organizing and analyzing them according to "bottom-up" approaches.

MiChem develops new synthesis methods and is committed to developing advanced instruments to overcome current technological barriers in the fields of health, nanosciences, interstellar chemistry, environment and heritage.

LabEx MiChem in figures:

  • 14 research laboratories
  • 7 research topics
  • 59 research projects: 26 PhDs and 33 post-PhDs
  • 12 internal equipment projects and 2 national equipment projects
  • 51 international mobility grants in 3 continents

Partner laboratories

MiChem's mission is to bring together the prestigious laboratories of Parisian chemistry around transdisciplinary projects.
